ADVANCE NOTICE: CALL FOR EXPRESSIONS OF INTEREST
DESIGN TEAM PROCUREMENT
The project aims will be achieved by:
- Expanding available public spaces to support and accommodate the ever-growing number of visitors
- Redeveloping existing public spaces making them more accessible, adaptable, modern and innovative
- Enhancing staff capability through improved amenity of workspaces and professional development
- Restoring and opening Queen’s Hall – the original heritage reading room and the oldest part of the library, returning it to public use
- Increasing connection with regional Victorians through digital delivery of programs
- Creating engaging, purpose-built spaces for children and families to nurture creative learning, literacy and play
- Creating technology-enabled spaces for entrepreneurship and innovation to support and stimulate the creative economy
- Increasing contribution to Victoria’s education economy by supporting the state’s growing number of international students with improved access and spaces
- Increasing contribution to Victoria’s tourism economy through the restoration and enhancement of heritage and exhibition spaces
- Ensuring financially sustainable
The design team is to be selected through a two stage selection process. In its role as delivery manager, Major Projects Victoria (MPV) will be seeking Expressions of Interest (EOIs) from qualified architects, who are interested in being considered for selection as project design principal to lead the consultant team for the State Library Redevelopment.
The release of the expression of interest documents will be advertised as a minimum in the Herald Sun and made available via the VicTenders website: https://tenders.vic.gov.au/
